#illridewithyou: Australians Say No To Racism!

What simply started as one woman offering to ride with someone wearing religious clothing has turned into a global call for tolerance and support, even in the wake up disaster.

The #illridewithyou hashtag was created by Sir Tessa after  the tweet by Michael James caught her eye. It was created to offer company to those wearing religious attire, who might be afraid of being subject to abuse on public transport . The hashtag was created by twitter user @sirtessa following  the siege of Sydney’s Lindt cafe on Monday.

The #illridewithyou hashtag amassed almost 120,000 tweets on Monday evening, and it continues to grow as Australians take a stand against anti-Muslim sentiment in the wake of the Martin Place siege.
